Presentation of the 2010 Atlantic Watersports Games by the Government of Cantabria - (04-11-2010)A delegation of the International Committee of the Watersports Games have travelled to Santander on April 8th and 9th in order to review the preparation of the 2010 Atlantic the Watersports Games, organized by Cantabria from July 31st to August 5th.
Consisted of Jean-Pierre Thomin, Jean Kerhoas, Alain Gourmelen (Brittany), Francisco Quiroga, Jose Senra ( Galicia), Caroline Le Lanchon (Asturias), Rafael Munilla (Basque country), Joao Zamith ( Norte Portugal), Robert Dabadie, Michel Appriou (Aquitaine), Ignasi Donate, Joana Munoz, Pep Subirat ( Catalonia) and François Arbellot, General Secretary, the delegation has been received by the representatives of the Government, in particular Alberto García Cerviño, Director of the European Affairs, the Port Authority of Santander, the Presidents of the sports Federations, and the coordinators of the event.
Before signing with the President of the Committee, Jean-Pierre Thomin, the agreement of organization of the 16th Watersport games, the Vice-president of the Cantabria, D ª. Dolores Gorostiaga Saiz has presented the 2010 Games face to numerous journalists and guests: Games which Cantabria wants of a high sports quality and which will be placed under the sign of the development of the Atlantic Space and the intensification of the cooperation and the cohesion between its regions. And so the Presidents of the Regions of the Atlantic Arc will be invited at the Opening ceremony of Sunday, August 1st as well as the representatives of the international watersports federations.
The delegation could discover the qualities of the various competition venues, grouped together in the Bay of Santander, and then exchange with the Federations about the sports program, which is presented, for the main part, in the notice of race that can be found on the I.C. website.
The accommodation and catering plan of the sports delegations was also presented, as well as the program of concerts, cultural events, touristic and gastronomic exhibition which will contribute to emphasize this European watersports week, supported by the NEA2 Project and numerous partners, as Brittany Ferries.
The meetings and the visits ended on Friday, 9 in the Olympic Training center of the Spanish Sailing Federation, where the delegation has been welcomed by its Director Alejandro Abascal, Gold medalist in the 1980 Olympic Games. Back | |
